Our road to Summer Camp 2021
We hope that your children are all settled into school (whatever their schooling looks like nowadays). We want to let you know that HIC is still here and that we are already planning for Summer 2021, which will be our 40th anniversary!
At this time we are planning to host a “normal” schedule next summer and hope to offer 5-6 weeks of a residential camp experience. We also have contingency plans that we will use in an emergency to avoid closing again. This summer the Governor of New Jersey signed an executive order barring residential camps from opening, but allowing family camps and day camps to operate. If the same executive order is signed next year (which is highly unlikely), we will instead offer numerous sessions of overnight family camp. We are letting you know at this time so you can start planning accordingly. Again, our primary plan is to host our traditional residential summer camp.
Registration will open in January. Our tentative plan is to open either June 27th or July 4th and end between July 30th and August 13th.
Our top priority is the safety of our campers, staff, and volunteers, and we will go beyond all guidelines and regulations to maintain their safety. We have already contracted a company to clean and sanitize the inside of all air conditioning and heating ducts. We are also working to install UV disinfectant lights inside of the ducts to kill 99.99% of germs. We will add air flow intake systems to all buildings to bring in fresh air while the air conditioning is in use.
We have been one of the best oncology camps in the country for 39 years and COVID-19 will not stop us from safely gathering together for our 40th anniversary!
