Cody Hennelly, Director

Cody is a proud cancer survivor and alumnus of Happiness Is Camping. He attended camp from 1994 to 2002, and later returned as a volunteer counselor from 2014 to 2016. Cody joined the HIC Board of Directors in 2018. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Alumni Committee, as well as a mentor for HIC’s Counselor and Mentorship Program where he speaks to participants about overcoming their diagnosis to find success in their adult lives.

In his professional career, Cody is a member of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) team where he supports the Department of Defense in modernizing cloud capabilities. Previously, he has served as part of the management team for the aerospace and defense company, Lockheed Martin as a Sr. Advisor in support of the National Security community, a Congressional Fellow for the US House of Representatives, and as an Officer in the United States Army.

Cody has earned a B.A. in History from Virginia Military Institute and an M.A. with Distinction in Human Behavior from National University. In addition to his degrees, Cody holds a certification in Project Management from Syracuse University and a certification in Strategic Management from Georgetown University.

Cody lives in Alexandria, VA with his wife, Jessica and their two sons.
