July 7 - August 9
Happiness Is Camping’s Summer Camp is free for children with cancer and their siblings, ages 6-16. Participate in a traditional camp experience that you will never forget!
Each morning, campers choose three daily activities that they attend throughout the week. Daily activities include, but are not limited to, high ropes (featuring a zip line, climbing wall, giant swing, and much more), swimming lessons, archery, pool games, sports, dodgeball, arts and crafts, drama, and arcade games. After lunch, campers have a rest period before heading to the pool to splash around with friends. The afternoon concludes with an activity chosen by each cabin to participate in together. After dinner, campers have free time before heading to night activity, where the entire camp gets together for a large activity! Night activities include a Disney Lip Sync Battle, Capture the Flag, Human-Sized Board Games, Counselor Hunt, Movie Night, an Animal Show, and everyone’s favorite, Prom!
Campers are supervised in the cabins by trained staff from around the world. In 2018, we had staff from NY, NJ, PA, England, Scotland, New Zealand, Germany, and Mexico!
As a camp for kids with cancer, the most important part of camp’s staff is our dedicated Medical Team. Happiness Is Camping houses a fully equipped health center, with a staff that always includes a pediatric oncologist and two or more hematology/oncology nurses. They reside at the camp’s health center and provide 24-hour medical supervision. The center is equipped to handle on-going care, thus enabling the camp to welcome children who require oral and/or IVP chemotherapy, children at serious risk of bleeding and infections, and children with significant physical disabilities.
